Johnlock fanfic: On Balloon Words, Idiom!cest, and the Building of Better Smut
This is a posting about the subgenre of Sherlock fanfic called Johnlock, with some thoughts about how it’s being written at the moment, and some suggestions to Johnlock writers about how it could get a bit better. This is fantastic, could not agree with it more, particularly with regards to epithets, which is something that irked me in the days I used to read Ace Attorney fanfic. I have only recently noticed it cropping up in Sherlock fanfic so I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing. That said, I’m guilty of quite a few of these so I’m going to keep this open when writing and get out of bad habits :)
